The challenging change questions that we help with usually fall into one of several kinds.
Leadership versus management
There is still debate about the differences between leadership and management. However, one thing is clear, successful businesses need both – they are definitely not interchangeable! We will help define your vision for leadership. Then we can assess and address and the gap between where you are and where you need to be.
We don’t have the skills we need. Should we build from within or recruit?
This could include skills to deliver a new process, the skills needed to enable a shift in culture – to better manage the customer relationship or work closely with our supply chain to develop collaborative behaviours. We will help understand what skills you need and why? How to build those skills or whether potentially you need to recruit from elsewhere in your organisations, or even outside.
Some of our people are not engaged. But how much of a problem is it really?
That’s almost certainly true, according to various studies. However, the extent of the disengagement, who is disengaged and whether that is addressable or not is critical to understand. In this Harvard Business Review article, the research suggests some personality types will always be disengaged and yet they are still of high-value. This is a challenging change question that shows that “one size does not fit all”.
Our behaviours just don’t seem to fit our values and now I’m worried about our culture.
How is your business living your values? Many companies claim to be customer-centric and yet their staff can behave in a way which is more customer phobic! This quickly damages the brand and can become an insidious part of your culture. We can help to define target behaviours and how to consistently build them to be part of your fabric – your DNA – your culture.
